Halloween guides written up north assume you need something warm. In Tamarac you need the opposite. Late October evenings in Broward County are still warm and humid, and food set out on a driveway table for a trick-or-treat gathering is sitting in conditions that matter. We are at 5707 University Drive, and this is how to order for a Halloween crowd in South Florida.
The two-hour rule, and the one-hour rule
USDA food safety guidance says perishable food should not sit out for more than two hours, and no more than one hour when it is above 90 degrees. A Halloween evening in Tamarac is usually under 90, but a covered tray on a sunny driveway before dark can run hotter than the air.
The practical answer is to plan for about an hour and a half outside, then move what is left indoors or into a cooler.
What holds up outside
Wings. They are meant to be eaten warm or at room temperature, need no plates, and come in counts that scale. 50 pieces at $67.99 or 100 pieces at $130.99.
Bento boxes. Each one has its own lid, so they stay covered until someone is ready to eat. The Chicken and Beef Bento at $14.85 is a full meal for an adult.
Cooked sushi rolls, served promptly. The California Roll at $8.85 and the Shrimp Tempura Roll at $8.85 have nothing raw in them, but sushi rice still belongs in the shade and should be the first thing eaten, not the last.
What to skip outside: fries, which go soft in humidity within minutes, and anything with Yum Yum sauce left sitting in the open. Keep the sauce cups in a cooler and put them out as people eat.
Timing on a Saturday
Halloween 2026 is a Saturday, and the sun sets around 6:40 in South Florida that weekend. Order around five for a pickup at a quarter to six, set out at six, and the food is eaten during the best stretch of the evening rather than sitting in the late-afternoon sun.
For anything over 50 wings, call 954-953-8848 the day before.
A halal answer for a mixed crowd
Trick-or-treat gatherings in Broward bring together families with very different diets. All of the meat we serve is 100% Halal, so one order covers the table, and Tofu Hibachi at $10.85 covers vegetarians without a separate stop.
