Yes, and on West Northern Parkway it is the whole menu, not a section of it. Northwest Baltimore is a part of the city that reads labels. Between Park Heights, Cheswolde and Fallstaff, a lot of households here have spent years asking restaurants direct questions about sourcing and getting vague answers back. So when people ask whether hibachi is halal, they are not asking for reassurance. They are asking what the kitchen actually does. Here is the real answer, and what happens in ours at 4460 W Northern Parkway.

What makes hibachi halal or not

Hibachi describes how the food is cooked, not what it is made of. So the question is really about the restaurant, and the honest answer for most hibachi restaurants is no. Here is where they fail.

Sourcing.Halal starts with the supplier. Chicken, beef and lamb have to be slaughtered to halal standard, and a restaurant either has that paperwork or it does not.

The shared grill. Most hibachi kitchens run one flat top for everything on the menu. If pork is on that menu, it has been on that surface. Wiping it down between orders is not the same thing as never cooking pork at all.

The sauces.Teriyaki, eel sauce and a lot of house yum yum are made with mirin or sake. It is the most commonly missed detail in halal dining, because diners check the protein and stop there.

Flame was set up so none of that applies. The full menu is halal, top to bottom. No pork comes through the door, which means the grill has one job. Sauces are made in our own kitchen instead of bought from a distributor, so we know what is in them.

Ask those three questions anywhere else you eat hibachi: where does the meat come from, is pork cooked here, and is there mirin in the sauce. If a restaurant hesitates on any of them, you have your answer.

At our Northern Parkway location

We are at 4460 W Northern Parkway, Baltimore, MD 21215, on the western run of Northern Parkway between Park Heights and Reisterstown Road. Pimlico Race Course is a few blocks away. Sinai Hospital is close enough that we see a steady stream of staff on shift breaks. Mount Washington, Cross Country, Fallstaff and Cheswolde are all within a short drive, and Pikesville and Owings Mills are an easy run out Reisterstown Road.

Hours are Monday through Saturday 11AM to 10PM and Sunday 11AM to 9PM. Holiday hours can shift around Eid and the major public holidays, so the Google Business Profile is worth a look before a long drive.

This store gets more questions about ingredients than any other, which we take as a compliment. If you want to know what is in something, ask at the counter. The staff here are used to it.

Getting here, and the neighborhoods we serve

West Northern Parkway is a straight run for most of Northwest Baltimore. Park Heights and Arlington are minutes away. Mount Washington, Cross Country, Fallstaff and Cheswolde are all inside ten. Reisterstown Road puts Pikesville roughly ten minutes out and Owings Mills about twenty, and Druid Hill Park and the Coppin State side are an easy drive east.

Sinai Hospital is close enough that shift changes show up in our order volume. Pimlico is a few blocks off, which matters most in May.

Every plate is cooked to order, not held under a lamp, so the honest answer to “how long” is that it depends on when you arrive. Ordering ahead online or on the app removes the question entirely, and most regulars here have stopped ordering any other way.

What to order on Northern Parkway

Salmon Hibachi, $11.85. Flagged as our best seller across the brand, and it holds up here. Salmon on a hot flat top with two sides.

Chicken and Beef Combo, $11.85. Two proteins for under twelve dollars, which is the reason it is on the promotions list.

Brown Sugar Milk Tea, $6.49. The boba menu runs deep, with ten toppings including crystal boba and lychee coconut jelly. Worth knowing if you have teenagers.

5 pieces Dumplings, $3.95. A cheap add-on that makes a hibachi plate feel like a full dinner.

How the plates are built: every hibachi comes with your choice of any two sides — fried rice, white rice, lo mein noodles or vegetables. Bento boxes arrive loaded already, with hibachi, vegetables, rice or noodles, a 4-piece California Roll, two dumplings and two spring rolls. Extra chicken is $2.95 and extra salmon, beef or shrimp is $3.95, which is usually the cheapest way to stretch one plate across two people. Individual sides run $2.95 to $4.95, and Yum Yum sauce is $0.50.

On Northern Parkway the most common build is a hibachi plate with fried rice and vegetables plus a boba on the way out. If you are feeding a household, the three-protein combo plus a bento and a roll covers a table of four without ordering four separate plates.

Yes. We are on West Northern Parkway, a few minutes from the racecourse, and we stay open through the evening if you are coming from an event.

We are one of the closest, and we are set up for it. Order online on your way out and pick up without waiting, which is what most of the hospital staff who come in do.

Our sauces are made in house rather than bought in. Store-bought teriyaki and eel sauce commonly contain mirin or cooking sake, which is why we make our own. A kitchen that buys its sauces in from a distributor usually cannot tell you what is in them.

Delivery runs through our online ordering. Pickup is quicker from either, usually ten to fifteen minutes out.
